Our lives seem to be ruled by time and the keeper of that time is clocks.

Depending on your personal taste and budget you can find wall clocks in wood, metal, acrylic, glass, turquoise, slate and stone.

The wall clock can become a conversation piece with its visual beauty and sound. There are Grandfather clocks that can be wall mounted and are quartz driven. You can also mount an alarm clock to your wall. The most impressive model that I have found is called a rhythm wall clock. This clock will be the talk of the neighborhood. You can find wall clocks in furniture stores, home decor stores and specialty stores that just sell timepieces.

Sections of Europe are known for the clocks they produce, and some collectors have started their collections of clocks focused on these clocks. Throughout history all of these countries have made a variety of amazing collectible clocks. Collectors have rooms within homes that have entire walls that are dedicated to displaying their clocks withing their collections.

Each collector will focus their own collections on type of clocks that suits them whether it be wooden traditional clocks or more modern hi-tech clocks. Ultimately, collectors will collect clocks that they like and as a matter of personal taste. With the more traditional wooden clocks this knowledge can help a collector know is a piece on the clock has been restored or if the clock is still in its original condition.

The history of making clocks can be quite important to collectors, especially those collectors who have built their collections around a particular individual manufacture. There are all types of floor stand clocks, wall hanging clocks, and regulatory clock that are created with rich colors of wood cases of oak, walnut, cherry, mahogany, and other woods that have made clocks so popular.

Carriage clocks, which were later known as travel clock have also become extremely popular with collectors due to their portability and their small size, because they consume less displaying space.

The basic features will eliminate some models for you right away. Then eliminate any clocks that don’t have large displays. Don’t choose the travel-trunk sized alarm. Have frequent power outages? Well, you need to consider the audio features of your clock radio. What about MP3 capability? Can it play songs from your MP3 player to wake you up?
